This course will introduce students to the Te Ao Maori of Rongoa. Explore the mātauranga of our tupuna and how this ancient knowledge is still relevant to the wellbeing of people today. It will provide an insight into the connections between the spiritual, physical and psychological realms and how they impact on our wellbeing. This programme encourages and supports students in developing your own connections to our different indigenous rakau (plants) and learning from experience and practice.
You’ll learn about:
The origins of the Atua and their connections to nature and the world around us. The importance of tikanga, whakapapa and karakia when connecting with our indigenous plants. Plant identification and some of the traditional uses and healing properties of these different rakau.
