Weiti Festival – Saturday 04 November 2017

Kaipatiki Project is partnering with the Hibiscus and Bays Local Board and Good Health to bring you the Weiti Festival at Te Herenga Waka o Orewa Marae, Silverdale on Saturday 04 November 2017.  This free, public event will run from 10am – 2pm, and combines the official opening of Te Herenga Waka o Orewa Marae with an ‘Eco Fun Day’, which aims to provide Coasties with  information and inspiration on how to live more sustainably.

There will be information stalls showcasing the great work that local community and environmental groups are doing in the area, a sustainable goods mini market and  interactive activities which teach people about how they can reduce their environmental footprint.  There will also be fun activities for the kids like face painting, giant bubble fun and hoola hoop workshops!

To celebrate the opening of the Marae, there will also be powhiri to welcome people onto the Marae, tours of the Marae’s facilities and kapahaka performances.   Not to mention, a selection of tasty food and drinks for sale on the day! Please bring cash with you as only a few vendors have Eftpos facilities (and no cash out!).

Entry to the Marae grounds will be via Tavern Road and parking is limited in the area, so locals are encouraged to walk or cycle to the event.  Bike racks will be provided!

Finally, we are still signing up vendors, activity providers, community organisations and volunteers for this event:
