OPERATION BUSH RESCUE
Volunteers are needed to help Kaipatiki Project Environment Centre to restore native bush in Eskdale Reserve, on the North Shore.
This work is physical and primarily involves removing invasive wild/Kahili ginger plants, that are strangling and suffocating other plants. Stopping invasive weeds spreading is crucial to bush rescue by giving native plants space and light to grow.
Ninja activities are supervised and will include cutting and digging out ginger, large and small, and filling barrels with ginger rhizomes where they will decompose.
Wear covered shoes or boots and be prepared to have fun and get dirty. Health warning: ginger removal is addictive!
Meet at Kaipatiki Project (17 Lauderdale Rd, Birkdale) unless otherwise notified.
