Ecofest: Te Aka Kōtuia: Plant Division Workshop

Hosted by Uru Whakaaro

Join us for this hands-on workshop at Maungawhau Nursery where we will cover propagation by plant division. We will learn about a range of species that can be propagated for volcanic landscapes and other environments.

This workshop is the second in the 2025 series, held by Te Aka Kōtuia, set up to support our kaitiaki and community nurseries across Tāmaki Makaurau.

This workshop is being held at Maungawhau Nursery (tended by Friends of Maungawhau) and is open to all nursery practitioners and/or aspiring nurseries.

We would like to acknowledge Tūpuna Maunga Authority whose governance cares for Maungawhau and Te Kaunihera o Tāmaki Makaurau for their support of this event.

Te Aka Kōtuia

Te Aka Kōtuia is a network of community nurseries. Together we are creating a space where everyone - schools, iwi, hapū, community nursery staff and volunteers - can all support each other through sharing stories about growing native plants and their experiences of organising volunteering events and facilitating workshops. The network has grown to include 58 nurseries, with the aspiration for new nurseries to continue joining this growing initiative.
