Restoring blue carbon environments through outdoor pursuits

What if you could take climate action by simply doing what you love? We aim to use outdoor pursuits as a platform to communicate and encourage climate positivity in order to minimise our impact on the environment.

Blue Carbon Project Mission

We believe the pathway to a sustainable future is through the restoration of blue carbon environments. Researching, exploring and simply enjoying these environments to promote marine conservation and minimise our impact. By using outdoor pursuits as a platform to communicate and encourage climate positivity in order to minimise our impact on the environment.

The water-sports community spend countless hours on the water and first hand see the impact of issues such a plastic pollution, climate change, and species abundance. The ocean is their backyard, and there is an opportunity to develop a community of ocean ambassadors that actively contribute to marine conservation.

Who's behind Blue Carbon Project

Profile+shot

My name is Brianna Orams and I basically grew up on the ocean. Whether it was living next to the beach or onboard a 40ft Catamaran the ocean has been my backyard for as long as I can remember.

I decided to follow my dream to compete in Stand Up Paddleboarding on a world stage, studying environmental science at the University of the Sunshine Coast. Being brought up in an ocean-based yachting family on Auckland's North Shore, I have been fortunate enough to offshore sail to places an average tourist wouldn’t normally go.

Whether it’s remote coastlines that have no footprints but mounds of plastic or sea turtles washed ashore from ingesting our plastic. I can’t help but feel a sense of responsibility.  Climate change and all things marine science are huge passions of mine so the idea arose to develop the Blue Carbon Project.

Your donation will not only take action in restoring local blue carbon environments but will be the soul foundation of the Blue Carbon Project and allow sport to lead the way to a sustainable future!
