Harakeke Workshop Series – Intermediate Level Raranga
Takutai Moana Watts returns in 2021 to deliver an intermediate level raranga workshop. This workshop will refresh on tikanga practices and will also feature and highlight on dyes and muka extraction. The 3 days of learning with Takutai will culminate with the weaving of a kete whaikairo. Learn some new skills or extend your weaving skills.

Please note that as a minimum skill requirement, we require you to be confident and already capable to weave the following:

Putiputi - flower
Kono – food basket
Kopaki – 2 corner basket
Takitahi – single weave
Whiri – 3 plait

Venue: Kaipātiki Environment Hub, 17 Lauderdale Road, Birkdale

28 February, 9am - 3pm (6 hours)
6 March, 10am - 2pm (4 hours)
7 March, 9am - 3 pm (6 hours)

Takutai Moana Watts is qualified in mahi raranga (traditional weaving) and is a kaitiaki (guardian) of the land. Joining in 2019, Takutai has experience in teaching traditional weaving and sustainable harvesting. Takutai ensures tikanga is followed in our harakeke programmes.
