Tree Planting Day: Gift a Tree

All are welcome to join us for this festive day, where we plant a gifted forest.

We are grateful to be opening our planting day sessions for the 2020 and 2021 “Gift a Tree” campaigns. We warmly welcome our tree givers and receivers to join us in planting these trees in Eskdale Reserve.

Eskdale Reserve is the largest urban bush in the Auckland urban area at 74 hectares and is home to an impressive diversity of native species. The restoration of this special area has been the focus of Kaipātiki Project since 1998 and we are still planting trees there to expand and strengthen the ecosystem.

Join us for a festive day in Eskdale Reserve and help us plant over 400 trees!

About the initiative

Each year over the festive season, we appeal to people to gift trees to their loved ones instead of more stuff. The last two years have seen more than 200 trees gifted each year to loved ones, through our gift-a-tree campaign.

Once the orders have come through each year, we plant the native tree seeds at our organic Birkdale nursery. With the help of our regular volunteers, we care for the saplings until they are ready for planting out, at the right time of the year.

With COVID lockdowns interrupting last year's annual tree planting day, we have twice as many trees to plant out this year!
