Para Kore Zero Waste

What does it mean and why is it so important?

The environmental impacts of waste are significant: Greenhouse gas emissions, polluted oceans and waterways, biodiversity destruction, and toxic contaminated soil and groundwater. That is not the future we want for Aotearoa. Auckland Council are working on getting to zero waste by 2040 and we are getting on board with this important goal.

Zero waste is a philosophy and design principle that aims to eliminate waste by rethinking how resources are produced, consumed, and recovered. Rather than following a linear “take–make–dispose” model, zero waste promotes a circular economy approach (just like in nature where nothing is wasted) where materials are reused, repaired, composted, or recycled back into productive use.
