- Does your school have an environmental or sustainability group?
- Is your school looking for end-of-year activities that have a community focus?
Kaipatiki Project works with young people from schools and colleges (years 7-13) who volunteer as a group, usually when the school timetable allows for some time out of the classroom.
The students attend with school staff and are taken out into the bush to carry out a range of supervised bush rescue work with our staff. There is no charge to the school for this opportunity.
Activities include weeding, mulching, clearing the bush of rubbish, and planting trees (during winter).
Students gain practical skills and experience, such as:
- the correct, safe use of tools
- sustainable bush restoration techniques (using no chemicals)
- basic ecology including native and weed plant identification
And best of all, they get to do manual work outdoors and give back to the environment.
Our restoration work normally happens around the Glenfield and Hobsonville Point areas of Auckland.
If you would like students to volunteer with Kaipatiki Project, please fill out this form and we will be in touch shortly.
