Led by Brett Stansfield from EIA, this thread of our work has been woven into a number of our community restoration days. Guided by Brett, our volunteers have had hands-on experience in collecting monitoring data for Awataha stream. This data is put into a national database as well as passed on to our wider project team. Having established that there are decent-sized banded-kokopu - we're looking forward each month to seeing what other critters are in the stream.
Through this work, our volunteers are growing an appreciation for life within Awataha in this current state and look forward to enhancing the mauri over time.
