Join us for a kauri protection workshop and learn some practical skills for protecting kauri from kauri dieback disease.
The first part of this workshop is the 'kauri care' section. This training is great if you have kauri on your property or if you are simply interested in how the disease works and ways you can help limit its damage. The second part of this workshop is the kauri dieback certification, which is focused on upskilling volunteers so that you can protect kauri while conducting restoration work such as weeding, predator control or planting.
Sponsored by the Auckland Council Kauri Dieback team, this part of the workshop is perfect for reserve volunteers (or those who are thinking of volunteering in a reserve) who want to safely continue to work in areas with kauri. The certification will allow you to enter the reserve in the case of kauri dieback closures. If you only wish to come along for the kauri care part of the workshop, you may leave before the kauri dieback certification workshop begins. If you are interested in the certification workshop, we strongly advise you attend both workshops.
Please note: we welcome attendees from far and wide, but priority is given to Kaipātiki residents. No previous experience is necessary. Under traffic light setting RED, vaccine passes will be required for attendance.
