Event by: Annette Lees
This event is fully booked
If you have ever wondered what goes on at night beyond the lit-up boundaries of our human world, then this special event is for you.
The night walk, led by acclaimed author Annette Lees, explores the stories and themes in her book, After Dark: Walking into the nights of Aotearoa. The evening will start just on dark when we will gather at the Kaipātiki project Ecohub. Annette will then walk us into the rising dark, sharing ecological and human tales of the night as we go. During the walk we will explore our relationship to darkness, using our senses, imagination and night-altered powers of observation. We will return to the Ecohub for hot drinks.
We expect this event to be popular, as it has sold out in the past (and this one is free). So please book early, and let us know if you can't make it, so that someone on the waitlist can take your spot. Ngā mihi.
This walk will take place in darkness to allow us to experience the true night. We will provide soft red torchlight. If you have a red-light torch you are welcome to bring it as a personal backup. We’d ask that you not use non-red torches nor your phones. Bring warm clothes and sturdy footwear. The evening is unsuitable for children aged under 10.
