EcoFest: Gardening with Biochar Workshop

Hosted by Hibiscus Coast Zero Waste

Biochar can help your garden, especially if you have heavy clay or very sandy soil. Biochar acts as a permanent form of compost in the soil–it holds onto water and nutrients and improves soil structure BUT it needs to be properly prepared.

This demonstration workshop explains what biochar is, how to use it, the benefits it has for your garden and the planet.

Betsy Kettle, who will be running the workshop, has been working with biochar for almost 15 years on both small and large horticultural projects.

Note that the venue is at the Hibiscus Coast Community House on the corner of Hibiscus Coast Highway and Centreway Road underneath the pohutakawa trees. This workshop is limited to 25 people.
