A compact, bushy tree featuring leathery, dark green, glossy leaves with toothed edges.

The undersides of the leaves are rusty in colour, and in some areas, the lower section of the central vein on the upper side appears dark. Leaf size varies from 5 to 10 cm in length and 3 to 6 cm in width. Clusters of white flowers with yellow centres grow on brown, fuzzy stems.
