Carex flagellifera is a striking sedge with fresh green foliage. It reaches around 50 cm in height and has a naturally arching habit. The slender leaves have finely roughened edges, while the flowering stems extend further and sprawl across the ground as they age. Although it occurs in a variety of habitats across New Zealand, it thrives best in sunny positions with adequate moisture.
