Carex vir-Carex virgata (swamp grass)

Carex virgata, also known as swamp sedge or pukio, is a vigorous, tussock-forming New Zealand native sedge with narrow, bright green, arching leaves. It thrives in damp to very wet conditions, such as swamps, drain margins, and seepages, but is also surprisingly dry-tolerant. This hardy, evergreen plant is excellent for wetland planting, erosion control, riparian revegetation, and creating dense, attractive clumps in landscapes.
