Live Mural Painting: Soil Spirit by Robbi Carvalho

Come and see artist Robbi Carvalho painting her new mural Soil Spirit live, as part of the Green Guardian Project on our portacom in Engine Bay Garden.

In this series, Robbi brings hybrid beings to life on walls across the city – creatures that carry powerful messages about climate change and highlight our deep connection to the planet and the natural world.

Robbi will be painting live and sharing insights into her creative process and the ideas behind the project.

Children are very welcome! It’s a unique opportunity to witness art in progress and engage with themes of transformation, compost, and care for the Earth.

About the Artist

Robbi Carvalho is a multidisciplinary artist who tells visual stories through a female gaze. Her art harmonizes women and nature into a singular entity. She captures real bodies and celebrates non-Eurocentric beauties, portraying the diversity and subjectivity of being a woman.

Her background as an architect and jewellery designer has honed her vision and technique, allowing her to construct a dreamlike universe. Originally from Brazil, she has lived in Portugal and Angola, choosing Aotearoa as her home.

In her studio in Hobsonville Point, she dedicates herself as a full-time artist. Robbi believes that art is a vehicle for mental health care and personal transformation. With a focus on empowering women and fostering their sense of belonging and self-worth, she has been leading workshops within the community.
