Replenishing the Old and Establishing New EcoSystems
Since 2021, Kaipātiki Project has been working alongside dedicated local volunteers to regenerate the native ecosystems of Papa ki Awataha and Te Ara Awataha—Northcote’s greenway that follows the daylighted Awataha Stream. This unique urban space blends restored waterways and wild habitats with accessible community spaces, offering a rare chance to activate new and old ecosystems in the buzzing heart of the neighbourhood.
This relatively new corridor needs many hands and hearts to bring it to life. Every planting session helps strengthen the mauri of this place, providing habitat for native wildlife, supporting water health, and creating a green spine for generations to enjoy.

Would you like to get involved?

Regeneration of this, and other unique space continues throughout the year, so stay tuned and sign up to help out whenever it suits you:
