Planting Day at Ōpuawānanga | Eskdale Park

PLANTING DAY | Join us for a rewarding day of planting and be part of restoring this special reserve. Together, we will plant native trees and shrubs that support local wildlife, improve biodiversity and help strengthen a resilient, healthy environment for future generations.

This is a hands-on opportunity to make a real, lasting difference in your community. Whether you are a seasoned volunteer or joining us for the first time, everyone is welcome. Our team will be there to guide you, share knowledge and make sure you feel confident getting involved.

Bring your friends, whānau, or come along solo and meet like-minded people who care about protecting and restoring nature. It is a great way to spend time outdoors, learn more about native planting and contribute to a meaningful cause.

We will provide all the tools, gloves and guidance you need. Just bring sturdy footwear, weather-appropriate clothing and a water bottle.

Thanks to Kaipātiki Local Board for supporting this initiative!

About Ōpuawānanga | Eskdale Park

Since 1998, Kaipātiki Project has been working hard to restore and protect Ōpuawānanga | Eskdale Park. Our activities include restoration planting, pest control, water quality monitoring and weed removal, as well as further conservation efforts for kākahi/freshwater mussels, titiwai/glowworms, and pekapeka/bats. With plenty of opportunities to learn and explore, you'll discover the wonders of our native ngahere and actively preserve and protect the eco-system as a whole.

We are carrying out important regeneration work, including tending to young trees planted this season by our volunteers. We meet regulalry year-round, and you're always welcome to join us when you can. You may also like to join our Facebook Group Here for regular updates and insights!

More about our efforts at Ōpuawānanga | Eskdale Park

Ōpuawānanga | Eskdale Park is a special reserve in that it is one of the largest Significant Ecological Areas (SEA) in Auckland, it also has a particularly impressive biodiversity for its size and location, and it hosts and protects the Eskdale Stream which feeds directly into the ocean at Kaipātiki Estuary and Sunset Bay. Working and volunteering at this reserve directly contributes to 5 of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals:
