We’re still buzzing with pride! Kaipātiki Project has been featured in Meridian Energy’s Community Decarbonisation Fund campaign, which has rolled out across TV, social media, billboards and even the front page of the NZ Herald — starring our very own Neil!
This nationwide spotlight is more than just a campaign. It’s a celebration of the incredible mahi already happening and the urgent need to protect our native species.
Thanks to Meridian’s support, we’ve been able to take a huge leap forward in our Pekapeka monitoring project, focused on the critically endangered Pekapeka-tou-roa (long-tailed bat). These taonga are teetering on the edge of extinction, and our work offers a vital opportunity to gather the data needed to help protect them.
The funding enabled us to install solar-powered bat trackers, which are crucial for long-term monitoring.
The filming day for the campaign was a highlight for our team. It included staff and volunteers and turned into a super fun day filled with bonding, storytelling and shared passion for the environment. We loved showing the Meridian team and their partners around our EcoHub, nursery and garden, giving them a glimpse into the heart of our mahi.
