On Tuesday 1st April 2025, Kaipātiki Project took part in the Auckland University of Technology (AUT), Te Wānanga Aronui O Tāmaki Makau Rau Volunteering Expo held at the City Campus. The event connected charities and not for profits with students eager to find out how they could give back to their communities.
Engaging with AUT’s enthusiastic students on the day was a fantastic opportunity to share Kaipātiki Project’s vision for a sustainable future and showcase the many ways volunteers can get involved in sustainability and environmental restoration. From hands on conservation work like weeding, planting and trapping to supporting behind the scenes with administration, marketing, content creation and more, there’s a role for everyone within our Kaipātiki Project whānau.
“The AUT Volunteering Expo was a fantastic opportunity to connect with students passionate about making a difference. The event was well organised and welcoming and it was inspiring to see so many eager to get involved in volunteering. We’re grateful to AUT for creating this space to showcase the impact of community driven initiatives and look forward to future events.” – Karla Macdonald, Community Activator, Kaipātiki Project.
Get Involved
Kaipātiki Project offers a range of volunteering opportunities to suit different interests and schedules. Whether you’re keen to join a one off community restoration day, lend a hand at our native plant nursery or teaching gardening at our eco hub, we welcome all levels of experience. Even if you’re just in it for the morning tea and great company, there’s a place for you!
If you haven’t volunteered with us before, we recommend attending one of our ‘Volunteer Welcome Sessions’ to get the most out of the experience.
A Shared Journey
Our volunteers are the heart of everything we do and together, we’re making a real difference in restoring native ecosystems while promoting a love for nature in our community. Volunteering isn’t just about giving back, it’s about connection, learning and the joy of making an impact.
“We give thanks to everyone who made this event possible, giving Kaipātiki Project the opportunity to showcase our incredible team and celebrate the volunteers, past and present – those who have shaped our amazing volunteer community”.
